We can tell you what you’ll see at Fleetwood-Jourdain Pop-Up Family Theatre this summer and when you’ll see it — but not where. All we know for sure is that each of the three plays will be staged outdoors in Evanston, unless there’s inclement weather.
“They won’t know where the locations are until the Thursday before that Saturday, when they will be posted on Twitter and on Facebook,” said Tim Rhoze, Fleetwood-Jourdain’s artistic director. “We’re trying to engage our younger families who are savvy with social media.”
The shows, which will be performed on Saturdays at 11 a.m., are: “Little Ned Riding Hood” (June 21), “Hansel & Greta?,”( July 5) and “You’re Not Ugly…Duckling” (July 19).
“All the stories are taken from the fairy tales,” Rhoze said. The theater’s program assistant, Lilien Lemieux-Jordan, adapted them.
Younger audience members will be encouraged to participate by doing such things as counting steps and letting a hero know when they spot a villain.
