Help the Heartwood Center Collaborate with Curt’s Cafe

Heartwood is collaborating with Curt’s Café to bring their gorgeous café and inspirational concept into the former Perla Café space across the street from Heartwood Center. Many of you are familiar with the work that Curt’s Cafe does on North Central Streeth with at-risk boys and young men. We would like to replicate this idea, focusing on at-risk teenage girls.

The mission of the new community vision, Curt’s Café South, will be to train at-risk teen mothers in life skills and food service skills to enable them to successfully contribute to their family and our community by joining the work force and taking the next steps in their education.

We are currently working to raise $150,000 in order to to open Curt’s Café and need an immediate $50,000 to buy the Perla Café space.

If the present and very profound issue of teen mothers touches your heart, and if you know of any donors, we would be so grateful for the contact. All donations are tax deductible and no amount is too small, but larger donations would be greatly appreciated right now. Time is of the essence, as this project will hopefully unfold in the coming months. Checks can be made to Curt’s Café.

Thank you for your ongoing commitment to our center and our community. All inquiries and donor contact information should be sent to
