Readers Rule! September Events at Evanston Public Library
Jon Scieszka, best-selling author of the Time Warp Trio series and The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales, will visit Evanston Public Library on Thursday, September 3, at 4:30 pm. Scieszka will introduce his new book, Frank Einstein and the Brain Turbo! Ideal for ages 7 and up. Children wearing mad scientist costumes may win a prize. Fall Words: Mailbox Play for Toddlers
Children learn best through play! Bring your toddler to play mailbox with you at all Evanston Public Library locations through September. We’ll have envelopes, stamps, a pretend Post Office mail box, even a mail bag for your little letter “writer” to use.

Children ages 1 to 3 and their parents/caregivers engage in creative play and have the chance to mix and mingle with each other, and with special guests from various fields. Thirty Million Words: Building a Child’s Brain
Join us for an evening with Dana Suskind, M.D., author of Thirty Million Words: Building a Child’s Brain, on Thursday, September 24 from 5:30-7:30 pm at One Rotary Center, 1560 Sherman Ave, Evanston. Her critical message encourages parents to develop a language rich environment for children in order to optimize their brain development and ability to learn.
