Evanston Township High School – 2016 CYBERSECURITY SUMMER CAMP
A non-credit hands-on exploration of cybersecurity for students grades 9 – 12
Monday, July 11th – Friday, July 15th 8AM – 1:35PM
One session only — space is limited to 15 students – no experience necessary
We will explore the field of cybersecurity using the Air Force Association’s CyberCamp program, which is organized as a 5 day hands-on experience. Students will learn about: basic cybersecurity principles, the use virtual machines, Windows security policies and account management, file protections, auditing and monitoring, Windows Server 2008 and Linux, Ubuntu terminology and concepts, graphical user interface & command line security on Ubuntu. We will also discuss cyber ethics, online safety, cyber threats, and explore career opportunities. Students will also be introduced to the CyberPatriot National Youth Cyber Defense Competition (which is held during the school year) and campers will participate in a mock competition on the final day of camp. No student experience is necessary – just a serious interest in learning about the field.
