GATHER: Pet Portrait Painting Party with Theo Hall – February 12

Join in this fun evening of creating portraits of our finest furry friends with special guest artist, Theo Hall. Theo is the artist currently exhibiting her work in the Nest at Gather through the support of the Visibilty Arts program at Search Inc. You will be inspired to make art, explore possibilities and finish a unique portrait of your favorite animal in the style of Theo’s canvas paintings. All materials included but please bring a photo of your pet or favorite animal to inspire your making.

Music Institute Presents “Family Concert: Duke It Out!” – December 10

This Nutcracker performance, curated by Dance Chicago, pairs the classical (Tchaikovsky) and jazz (Duke Ellington/Billy Strayhorn) versions of the holiday favorite, performed by Axiom Brass and Music Institute Ensemble-in-Residence Quintet Attacca. Featured ensembles include Forum Jazz Dance Theatre, Moscow Ballet’s children’s cast, The Kate Jablonski Statement, Tapman Productions, Visceral Dance Chicago, Wheatland Dance Theater, and other companies and choreographers participating in Dance Chicago 2016.

Art & Adventure-style class when Evanston School District 65 has half days! Encourage exploration in an open, playful atmosphere with traditional plus new & unexpected art materials. Champion your child’s artistic path & nurture creativity through curiosity & discovery. Materials and snacks provided. Taught by Jan Ellenstein, who has been making art fun for children for the last 30 years! Art with Lisa

Registration is now open for Art With Lisa at Little Beans Cafe.  Classes for 5-8 year olds Wednesdays at 5:30p. 3-5 year olds Thursdays at 11a.  Get ready for a hands-on studio art experience that weaves art history, aesthetics and production.  Children will be inspired by the styles of great modern artists (Jacob Lawrence, Andy Warhol, Frida Kahlo, Georgia O’Keefe, etc.), and will explore drawing, painting and clay.

About the teacher:
Lisa Lieb, art teacher, is a graduate of The Art Institute of Chicago and The University of Chicago.

Lisa has taught an award-winning art program for students from pre-K-8th grade at Chicago Public Schools for 20 years. She offers private classes and birthday party group art activities.

DAILY ART CAMP
Mixed Media & Canvas Painting

***FOR AGES 7 – 12***

Join Bottle & Bottega for a week long Artistic Adventure as we create Little Artists! Led by a professional art instructor; the program is created to foster a warm, super fun and nurturing atmosphere to bring out your child’s Inner Artist.

At Bottle & Bottega, we practice all art forms, so each day will feature 2 take home projects that will include various creative mediums including:
Painting on Canvas – Varying sizes using acrylic paint

Mosaics – Create a mosaic on canvas!
Glass Lantern Painting – Catch fireflies or add a tea light and gift to Grandma!
Art Words – Personalized initials on 6×6 canvases secured as a diptych or triptych!
Tape Masking – Tape. Paint. Pull. WOW. Repeat!
Mixed Media – Craft layers of paper images, tissue paper and paint. Children will be requested to bring some materials from home – copies of photos, favorite book pages, etc. Super fun and personal!

The City of Evanston Parks Recreation and Community Service summer youth program presents:

The GOALED Gallery at the Lake Shore Arts Festival, August 6th and 7th from 11 am to 6pm

  • Be a part of Evanston’s premiere Fine Art Fair!
  • Youth meet with award winning artists to discuss entrepreneurship and professionalism.
  • You are responsible for selling your own artwork throughout the fair.
  • All work must be produced by You.

If selected, You will receive a small area to display and sell your work in a city sponsored tent. There is no vendor fee for you and we will not demand any commission on your sales.
