The Little Mermaid Auditions – Gibbs-Morrison Center – January 10

Audition for the Evanston Children’s Theatre Production of the Little Mermaid, Disney’s Classic Musical tale about a curious girl who will sacrifice anything for love.

Auditions are open to local children ages 8 to 8th grade.

Rehearsals are Tuesdays or Thursdays and Saturdays. No experience necessary, performances will be March 17 to 20 at the Levy Center.

Auditions will be held on January 10th at Gibbs-Morrison Cultural Center, 1823 Church Street, Evanston IL 60202 at 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM

Age: Children age 8 to 8th grade
Fee: $100 R/110 NR for those cast

The Young & the Restless Storytime – Gibbs-Morrison Cultural Center – December 9

Bring your infant, 1 or 2 year old to this fun monthly sing-a-long storytime led by Ms. Martha, at Evanston’s newest cultural center, just northeast of Evanston Township High School. Friday, December  9, 10 am, Gibbs-Morrison Cultural Center, 1823 Church St, Evanston IL (This same program is offered every Thursday at 9:30am at the Main Library.)

Class Voice

This beginning singing experience will teach young singers in sixth through eighth grade healthy singing technique, while encouraging them to the appreciate different vocal styles and have a great time! Performances will conclude the session.

Music Stories and More
This 30-minute class for ages 6 months to toddler will help your little one grow accustomed to sound. Babies and toddlers will be stimulated by the playing of various instruments. Your child will be mesmerized by your voice and interested in learning about their own emerging musicality.

Music in Your World
This 30-minute class introduces 3- to 5-year old boys and girls to the music, sounds and rhythms of various cultures.
Participants will learn to use their voices and bodies to create music, as well as hand percussion techniques.

Once a month, bring your infant, 1 or 2 year old to this fun, free, dynamic, sing-a-long storytime led by Evanston Public Library’s energetic Young and the Restless leader, Ms. Martha, at Evanston’s newest cultural center, just northeast of Evanston Township High School. Home providers and center classes welcome! Pie and lunch available for purchase.

Alice Through the Looking Glass Auditions – Tues. Aug. 30

If your 8 year old to 8th grader wants to be in a show this fall, auditions for Alice Through the Looking Glass on Tuesday August 30th at the Levy Center, and Thursday September 1 at the Gibbs Morrison Center on Dodge and Church, both from 4 to 6pm.

Nothing to prepare or bring except themselves Performances are November 18,19 and 20.

City of Evanston Special Black History Month Event – Sat. Feb. 28

Local community members are invited to attend the City of Evanston’s special Black History Month event on Saturday, February 28 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Gibbs-Morrison Cultural Center, formerly known as Boocoo, located at 1823 Church St. in Evanston.

The event will include a welcome speech from Evanston Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl and 5th Ward Alderman Delores Holmes, a poetry reading by Eva McCann and Charles Touny, and more.

The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
