Ridgeville Easter Egg Hunt – Sat. April 12

Celebrate spring with Ridgeville’s annual Egg Hunt tradition! Candy-filled eggs will be hidden throughout Ridgeville Park awaiting the searching eyes of neighborhood children. A special prize awaits the lucky individual who finds the Golden Egg. Mr. Bunny will be on hand to start the hunt, be he won’t be giving any hints!

NOTE: The Egg Hunt is designed primarily for kids 5-7 years of age. Please help us spread the word to any families you think might be interested.

Winter Camps at Ridgeville

Winter break may be a two-week vacation for District 65 school children, but not for most working parents. Ridgeville’s Winter Camp is a great way to make sure your kids are having a fun, structured, and supervised winter vacation. The camp will feature exciting art projects, games, and activities organized by our dedicated staff.

 

Dates: Dec 23rd, 26th-27th & 30th; January 2nd-3rd
Monday, Thursday-Friday 10am-4pm
Extended Camp Available
8am-10am and 4pm-6pm.

Fees (per day): $30 RPD Residents/$35 Non-Residents

Peanut Flag Football in Ridgeville Park District

Come join Ridgeville’s new Peanut Flag Football League! This program is a minimal contact activity designed to introduce the basic developmental skills of youth flag football. Teams will be created with participants from local grade schools. Ideally, there will be one team representing each school, and parents are encouraged to volunteer as coaches, assistants, and team-parents.

Dates: 9/14-10/26 (7 weeks)
Day/Time: Saturdays, 9-11am

Ages: 2nd-3rd graders

Shakespeare for Kids, by Kids – July 26-28

Performance Dates:

This production will feature a talented group of 11-15 year olds and will take place on the East Stage at Ridgeville Park, adjacent to the Ridgeville Park District Community House (908 Seward St.). Admission is free.

New Ridgeville Park District Comissioners, Dan Coyne and Rob Bady, are hosting a neighborhood meet and greet at Reba Park. Come on by for free pizza and lemonade!

Wednesday, July 24th: Scavenger Hunt at Ridgeville Park (4:15 sharp)
The City of Evanston is co-hosting this event for kids ages 8-12. Participants will be divided up into teams and given a series of clues leading to different locations around Ridgeville Park (908 Seward St.). A special prize awaits the team that finishes first!

Thursday, July 25th: Starlight Concert/Food Truck fest
The City of Evanston’s annual Food Truck Fest and Starlight Concert series comes to Brummel Park with delectable food truck delights and the music of The CongregationThis year’s food trucks include: Hummingbird KitchenThe Tamale SpaceshipSweet Ride, Taquero Fusion5411: Gourmet EmpanadasBabycakes Gourmet, and Curried. Food trucks arrive at 5:30 and the music starts at 7:30pm.

League Details

Dates: June 25th-July 25th (5 weeks)

Time: Games played between 4-8pm (Tues/Thurs)

Where: Outdoor Courts at Ridgeville Park and Kamen West Park

Ages: 11-14 (players may be entering their freshmen year of high school, but not their sophomore year)

PLEASE NOTE: There will be a clinic/orientation on Tuesday, June 18th (5:30-6:30pm) where players will meet with the league supervisor for talent evaluation and team assignments.

Spring Break Arts Camp: Wizards!

From Merlin to Harry Potter to the Sorcerer’s Apprentice, the idea of people who study magic is woven through literature. In this full-day camp, the Cultural Arts Division folks will cover everything from magical beings to potions to foreseeing the future.
Mar 25-29, M-F 9am-5pm, Age: 6-11 yrs.
Fee: $200 R/$215 NR Length: 5 sessions

Spring Break Arts Camp: Survival Skills, a Tribute Training Camp

Inspired by recent YA literature that features an apocalyptical future, the Cultural Arts Division brings you a spring break camp that will get you in shape for whatever the future may hold: from archery to orienteering, star navigation to rope tying.
Mar 25-29, M-F 9am-5pm Age: 9-14 yrs.
Fee: $225 R/$245 NR Length: 5 sessions

THEATER CAMP

School vacations. They happen. Want your kiddo (5th grade and older) to do something besides take up residency on the couch? Tony Lawry, Piccolo’s programming and outreach director, as well as a Second City Detroit alum and founder of the teen improv group The Underage Sugar Addicts, puts together amazing Winter, Spring or Summer breaks full of improv, movement and other theatrical styles taught by a who’s who of Chicago area theatre and performing arts professional teaching artists.

Ecology’s Adventure Spring Break Camp

The Evanston Adventure Bus is leaving, so hop on! New life is springing up all over Evanston and we are going to find it. Visit Lovelace Pond, Lighthouse Dunes and even a hidden playground to see what spring is like in every corner of your city. Games, crafts and mini-experiments make up our days, plus daily outside adventures in the Arboretum and beyond, so dress for the weather. Post-camp care is available.
