Celebrate the holiday season at the Evanston Tree Lighting ceremony at Fountain Square. Join Santa and Mrs. Claus to enjoy an evening of musical performances, holiday cheer, hot chocolate, and watch the tree light up at 5:30pm. We’re also excited to announce that the Cubs mascot Clark and the White Sox mascot Southpaw will celebrate with the Evanston community! Look for them in the crowd!

Santa’s Magical Trolley Express in Evanston is an enchanting 90 minute interactive holiday program that begins with an exciting trolley ride to Santa’s North Pole, where the adventure comes alive! Join us for a delightful visit to Santa’s polar workshop where the kids will get involved in whimsical games and lively music, get a picture with Santa, and finally will receive a special surprise!
Your Polar Adventure ticket also includes entry to Little Beans Cafe and their imaginative indoor playground. Plan your visit so your children can enjoy both their polar adventure as well as some time at their indoor attractions.
PLEASE NOTE! Each guest over the age of 12 months is required to have a ticket! Moms, dads, grandmas, grandpas, and all children need to have their own ticket! Tickets are sold individually, per person, regardless of age (over 12 months). A single ticket does NOT allow for entry for a child AND her/his parent! Each guest must have their own ticket.
Evanston – Little Beans Cafe combines a family cafe with an imaginative indoor playground for kids. The cafe boasts a delicious assortment of drinks and snacks, where parents can enjoy the ambiance of a comfortable cafe with their children.
At the Evanston Little Beans Cafe, children ages 0-6 can play in the Little Beans Village, while children 5-12 years can explore Big Beans. For more information, please visit the Little Beans Website.
The Chicago Transit Authority’s Holiday Train will make stops on Evanston’s Purple Line on Wednesday, December 18; Friday, December 20; and Saturday, December 21.
Each year, Santa rides in his sleigh atop an open-air flatcar carrying his reindeer and decorated holiday trees. He and a team of elves pass out candy canes and season’s greetings at each stop.
The outside of the six-car train is adorned with thousands of twinkling lights and holiday decorations, while the insides of the cars are decked with bows, garland, red and green lights and more.
The train generally operates from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends, and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on select weekdays, and will make stops at all stations along the respective routes. Normal CTA fares apply.
