Outdoor Ice Skating Now Open!


Outdoor ice rinks are now open at all three Evanston locations: Ackerman Park, Baker Park, and Arrington Lagoon at Dawes Park. As weather conditions change, visit the City’s website or text SKATE to 847-448-4311 for an automated response, to check the Current Outdoor Rink Status 

Rink Locations:

  • Ackerman Park, Central St. at McDaniel Ave.
  • Baker Park, Forest Ave. at Keeney St.
  • Arrington Lagoon at Dawes Park, Sheridan Rd. at Church St.

Winter Break Camp – Ridgeville Park District – Registration NOW OPEN


Winter break may be a two-week vacation for District 65 school children, but not for most working parents. Ridgeville’s Winter Camp is a great way to make sure your kids are having a fun, structured, and supervised winter vacation. The camp will feature exciting art projects, games, and activities organized by our dedicated staff.

Dates: Dec. 27-30, 2016 and Jan. 3-6, 2017

Days: Tues., Wed., Thurs., Fri.

Times: 10am-4pm

(Extended Camp Available 8am-10am/4pm-6pm for $3/hr)

Fees (per day): $35 RPD Residents/$40 Non-Residents*

Location: Ridgeville Park Community House, 908 Seward.

Leave No Child Inside: Snow Art Saturday – Jan. 26

The Ecology Center and the Evanston Environmental Association (EEA) are members of the Chicago Wilderness “Leave No Child Inside” coalition. Each month, we’ll have a different hands-on activity to encourage outdoor activity in the winter. The activity planned for this event is “Snow Art”. If there is no snow outside on Saturday, we’ll still have some great activities for the event attendees. After making each craft, you’ll want to explore the great outdoors!
